DeMarcus Cousins Returns to Basketball

DeMarcus Cousins finally gets back on the court and he was on fire. And yet he made a statement saying “Wait until I get in midseason form.”

DeMarcus was off the court for nearly a year after tearing his left Achilles tendon.

The game began with DeMarcus Cousins being nervous and being booed when he first touched the ball and it ended with him getting an ovation as he stepped off the court and Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson emptying a bottle of water on his head.

With regards to the love he received from the crowd, DeMarcus had the following to say with smile on his face “Man, probably the fakest love I’ve ever received in my life. I’m just going to keep it a million. I honestly don’t see how guys like Steph and Klay do it on the daily, where there are cameras around them all day. I don’t like it, at all. So hopefully this is the last day of this.”

Cousins had an amazing game with 14 points, six rebounds, 3 assists and three 3-pointers before fouling out. A well rounded game if you ask me.

Cousins had the following to say about his return “Felt like a kid on Christmas. It’s been a long journey. This is probably one of the best days of my life.”

DeMarcus his return was the thing that the Warriors needed. There are a few questions marks around that statement, because the former four time All Star has been out of commission for a year. And he made 5 of 11 shots but was a plus-21 when he was on the court. But he announced his return to the game with a one handed dunk as the first basket for the Warriors.

About which he had to say “I’m just glad to know that I can still dunk. It felt good. I never in a million years thought that would be my first basket playing ball again.”

His teammate Kevin Durant who had 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists had the following to say about Demarcus his return “He was great tonight, I like that he gonna keep people on us at the 3-point line. I like that he was running the floor, he set a screen. I mean he just played his game — 15 minutes, he had 14 and 6. You turn that to 25 minutes, that’s an easy 20 and 10. I like where he’s going, good first step, and hopefully he keeps moving forward.” When asked if Durant was surprised about Cousins debut, he said “Nah. I’m surprised he didn’t have 20 points.”

Cousins motivation for such a great game came from his girl sending him a text message with a picture of him in a wheel chair with the caption “Think about where you are now. And where you came from.”

Now that is motivation. Im glad he is back and I look forward to what he is going to do on the court.
